Material Analysis and Research Testing

National Cryogenics is capable of doing several different types of metal and component testing, cryogenic testing, atmospheric testing, etc.

Cryogenic analysis can be done independently on materials subject to National Cryogenics' wear process in labs equipped with the following equipment:

  • Tribocope - a combination of an atomic force microscope and a nano-mechanical probe
  • Universal micro-tribometer - has the capability to monitor electrical contact resistance, acoustic emission and frictional force during wear, indentation and scratch tests on micro-scale and macro-scale
  • Scanning Kelvin Probe - determines surface electron work function
  • Fischer Scope - Micromechanical probe
  • High-temperature air - jet erosion tester
  • Electrochemical scratch apparatus - for corrosive wear studies
  • Electrochemical measurement system - for corrosion studies
  • Dry sand/Rubber - wheel abrasion tester
  • Slurry-pot erosion tester with temperature control
  • Pin-on-dics wear testers
  • Air-jet erosion tester
  • Pulse and direct current electrodeposition system
  • Differential scanning calorimetry system
  • Bell Jar vacuum melting furnace
  • Automated friction measurement
  • Laser thermometer
  • Computing facilities
