Metallurical Department:

David Pye:

David Pye has more than fifty years of experience in metallurgical processing. His experience in captive and commercial heat treatments and metallurgical laboratories makes him one of the most knowledgeable in his industry. He has more than twenty years’ experience in research and development including nitriding & carburizing technology. He has taught many extensive heat treatment courses for ASM International - both domestically (The Dome) and onsite, as well as internationally for 18 years. He is featured in several ASM Seminars.

David is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Precision Mechanics, Warsaw, Poland and has published more than 100 technical papers on an international basis. He is the author of the highly acclaimed book 'Practical Nitriding and Ferritic Nitrocarburizing’ and is also published in 15 other books.

David writes a monthly technical article for the magazine 'Industrial Heating'. He has produced over a hundred one-hour online training programs for the Metal Treating

Mr. Bill Bryson

  • Advisor in Metals
  • Author of "Cryogenics", "Heat Treatment: Master Control Manual" & "Heat Treatment, Selection And Application of Tool Steels"

William "Bill" Bryson is a long standing advisor in everything metals and one of the pioneers in various fields of engineering. He is the author of a number of books specializing on the theory and practice of metal wear analysis characteristics.

 

Dr. Dongyang Li

  • Professor - Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Alberta (Canada)
  • Adjunct Professor - Department of Bio-Medical Engineering, University of Alberta (Canada)

Along with his work conducting projects with major oil sands clients, Dr. Li provides valuable third party research and wear analysis capabilities to the National Cryogenics team.

James Fesmire

  • Sr. Principal Investigator and founder of the Cryogenics Test Laboratory at NASA Kennedy Space Center for energy efficient technology development.
  • His work in cryogenic systems design has supported the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, future moon and Mars exploration, experimental rocket programs, commercial space launch facilities, superconducting power, hydrogen storage and delivery, and a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.
  • Has been in the field of cryogenics and low-temperature problem-solving for over 30 years.
  • Member of the International Institute of Refrigeration and ASTM International Committee C16 on Thermal Insulation.
  • President of the Cryogenic Society of America.
  • Has authored numerous patents and publications in the area of thermal insulation systems, novel materials, and cryogenic testing methodologies. 
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Materials Science) and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
